Tagged again!!!

July 29, 2007

I was tagged a friendship tag (dunno what it means), but i suppose it’s because friendship day’s coming soon. Anyways, i’ve got to list some of my Firsts and Bests. And here they are.

Firsts:

1) Crush: Well never thought anyone was good enough. Hehehe.. I had Ego problems in school. :-D But well in my 10th standard i did admire this guy who had shifted from mumbai. He was a pro runner and a good athlete. Boy he could run!! I don’t know if it classifies as a crush…probably not, but anyways, thats how close i came to it. Never told him, by the way.

2)Penny: My first penny. A funny story behind it actually. Mum had sent me to school with a Rs. 50 note {some kind of fee for school, i don’t really remember} and i ended up losing it {come to think of it, I’m pretty sure somebody flicked it} So poor little me had to listen to a lot of sharp words about respecting the value of money and how it’ll happen only when i started earning. And guess what?? The very next day i come home with more than 50 Rs in my bag. Prize money for an elocution competition!! There you go, my first penny.

3)Vehicle: My parents gifted me a TVS Scooty Pep 4 months after my 16th birthday. The poor thing has suffered a lot since. It has a missing side mirror now, and some crow-shit that just wont disappear. But owning my own “vehicle” in 11th standard was really SOMETHING!! Quite a lot of happy memories attached to this one.. going to 12th Std tuitions on it, getting wet in the rain while riding…

4)House: I think I’m too young to write about this one. (duh….)

5) Kiss: Ummmm, errrr, ahhhh, hmmmm, ahem, yes, what was i typing?? ummmm ya… ditto as above… too young ;-)

Bests:

1)Best year:Can’t stick to one year. Maybe 2003 when i topped my school in 10th Std. Maybe 2004, when i knew what friendship really was {my! what an illusion i was living in till then!} or maybe 2007 (going on)..i like college life you know….

2)Best person I met: Well this is a tough one. I believe we idolize different people in different phases of life. As far as achievement in life or approach towards life goes, for me, no one person has got everything. So many faces came to me when i thought about what to write for this one, but most of them have let me down ( not personally, but concerning what was expected of them considering they were the “best” persons i had met in that particular time in my life). So I don’t have an answer for this one.

3)Best Days: I think when i was a baby. I gave as much pleasure to everyone around me as i got from them. Eat,sleep, laugh, cry and poop all day.. what fun!!!

4)Best Friend: No two ways about this one. Harsha. My friend with whom i blabber about everything on the face of the earth; and she doesn’t get bored {at least when i ask her if she’s getting bored, she says Tejasee, I’ll tell you when I’m getting bored}. I’ve spent so much time with her and till date I’ve never seen her lose her balance, get dramatic, or show extreme emotion. I admire her for that.

5)Best place visited: Cant say… maybe Coorg, maybe Dalhousie.

Well I’m done. Happy Friendship Day to all. :-)

And I live my life

July 26, 2007

I wrote this a few months ago..

And I live my life

elves-forest.jpg

I stare out of my window, looking into nothingness

And I laugh at my own dramatic behaviour

But then I weep at the whys and hows

And I chide myself for being so weak

And I live my life;

Walking with my head held high..

The pseudo-busyness and me..

The leaves are rustling, so does my heart,

The sky is cloudy, so is my mind

But the night is still, ask the moon, he gives me company

My empty room seems too large, it surrounds me so

And I live my life;

Trying to whiz through time..

The pseudo-busyness and me..

I ponder about the so called real world

And wonder if I’ll ever live the real life

Talking to so many faces, communicating with none

Am I unique? Or just plain lonely?

And I live my life;

Wandering with the masses..

The pseudo-busyness and me..

marley and me

July 22, 2007

marley

Books and Dogs : two of my favourite things in the world. How could i resist?? I had already been told its a very good book by my aunt who is a dog lover herself. So when i saw it on the bestseller stand in a book store, i couldn’t resist myself. :-)

This is one of the most heart-warming books I’ve read recently. Although the end is sad, you are left with a contented feeling that the dog lived a satisfying and fun filled life. This is a story of a newly wed couple who decides to get a dog; because they want a baby, but have misgivings about whether they can nourish a living thing in their household. :-D After a failed attempt to grow a pot plant, they decide on a puppy. Since both of them have had dogs in the family throughout childhood, they already know that sooner or later their household would have a dog lying at their feet. So why not get one. So Marley comes into their life as a parcel of mild surprises first, and then a whirlwind of a personality :-)

The gamboling lovable pup soon presents them with love and affection and a lot of extra expenses. They soon find out that he can scratch his way through cement and wood when he is terrified of the thunderstorms, and sometimes he is not aware of his own strength as he manages to floor everyone whom he jumps on lovingly. They find out that he has a habit of scooping up anything and everything in his mouth and is smugly happy when he manages to scoop up something that interests him: an activity that can be detected by an increase in mischievous scampering and wiggling.

Soon a baby is on they way, and the family is growing. They realize they they have a full grown dog, but his brain is still a puppy’s . Marley absolutely refuses to get himself trained and they are thrown out of obedience school, but with the baby coming and the family growing, Marley gets used to playing second fiddle, and doesn’t mind in the least as long he is allowed to continue the madness. When there is a stabbing in front of their gate though, they find out that Marley is not just an affable and slightly ( ;-) ) misbehaved dog, but he is also their protector, and he can rely on his instincts and behave in ways they cannot normally expect from him. Two more kids and a house-shift later, Marley is still the steamroller experience, but a mellowed one, one, which is on it’s way to retirement.

Throughout the book, they author leads the reader through the joyous havoc that Marley wreaks throughout his life-time. But he is an unconditional love-giver. And reading the book can only be a happy experience. Since the author is actually a journalist, the language used is also simple, entertaining and humorous. I’m in love with Marley, and so will u be if u read this book:-)

The end, though sad, doesn’t leave you complaining. As the author says in his foreword: “Dogs are great. bad dogs, if we can really call them that, are perhaps the greatest of them all”

For dog lovers..http://marleyandme.com will be a delight.

Tagged!!!!

July 17, 2007

I was tagged by moonriver.sulekha.com. My cousin Kalyanee, actually. The meanest thing is you have to do it in 8 hours if you mean to live up to the challenge ;-) Well i’m supposed to tell 8 things about myself. And since i’m always bursting to talk about myself this shouldn’t be too difficult, but i’m still nervous…hehe..

well here goes..

1. Tejasee tries her very best to make the world believe that she is very wise and intelligent, but the fact is she is very immature for her age, and not as “exposed to the big bad world” as she would like to be. Her greatest fear might well be that her innocence will be “discovered”.

2.Tejasee is extremely fond of dogs and babies. Many people get startled when she suddenly yells “Kutuu!!!!!” or “Doggieeee” or “Baluuuu”. She has even been narrowly saved from an accident because she startled her friend who was driving a car with yelling as described above.

3. Tejasee’s favourite colour is wine red. Not really a colour that girls are fond of, but she loves the colour. But she does not own any clothing of that colour, not any articles in that colour. She just likes the colour.

4. Tejasee likes sitting alone on the beach and looking at the waves coming and going. She many a times opts for loneliness, instead of company. There are not many people in the world with whom Tejasee doesn’t find faults.

5. Tejasee can eat almost anything with ketchup. Don’t tell anyone. But she has even had it over vanilla ice-cream.

6. Tejasee is a fluid addict. She loves soups, home-made sharbats, soft drinks, mango juices, milkshakes, tropicana, fresh juices and basically anything that is liquid. She needs to consume at least one of the above things every 12 hours.

7. Tejasee hates people who say one thing and do another. She hates people who take pride in something that they themselves have not achieved with effort (vanity about beauty, snobbishness about wealth, elitist behaviour about so called “artistic temperament” ) She hates people who classify academic achievers are success-stories. She hates people who say that they care even when they don’t. She hates people who trample over others to get to the top using emotional victories rather than with talent and intelligence. { Basically Tejasee hates a lot of people :-D }

8. Tejasee thinks company is very important, even though she chooses solitude often. Even though she thinks a good book and lovely music are very good companions, Tejasee thinks it’s important to have company to share the joys and sorrows with. But a talking walking dog-cum-book-cum-juice factory-cum-music player is hard to come by!! :-)

As the tag is completed and as a rule it is necessary to pass on the tag, I pass the tag to according to the rules below

——————————————————————–

1. Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.

2. People who are tagged, write a blog post about their own 8 random things, and post these rules.

3. At the end of your post you need to tag 8 people and include their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment and tell them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

The 8 i have tagged are:

1) Siddhi writes :http://siddhiwrites.wordpress.com

Life in a…Metro

July 14, 2007

Characters:

Shruti: Kokona Sen

Monty: Irfan Khan

Amol: Dharmendra

Shivani: Nafisa Ali

Shikha: Shilpa Shetty

Ranjeet: K. K. Menon

Aakash: Shiney Ahuja

Rahul: Sharman Joshi

Neha: Kangana Ranaut

I liked this movie a lot. For once you have a film based on relationships and yet it doesn’t have any of the running around the trees in the rain stuff. The whole “everyone is cheating on someone” scenario is a little unsettling, and things get just a little too ironic and i found myself squirming in my seat, wondering if such situations were plausible. But hey its supposed to be fictitious. :-)

Its no use explaining the stories, watching the movie will be a much better experience. I liked Shruti and Monty the most. Monty’s hilarious and yet wise remarks make you grin and burst out laughing. “Ab realationships toh guarantee card ke saath thodi aate hai? ” :-D “Magar blouse aur pettycoat to uske maap ke sil gaye hai, pehle kyu nahi bola? ” :-) :-D Dharmendra and Nafisa Ali look so good, and act so naturally. The music is really great, although it’s irritating to have the not-so-good-looking band appear time and again throughout the movie. :-P

The part of the movie i liked the most was how symbolic some scenes are, and how much thought there seems to have gone behind making each scene. The poster of Brokeback mountain in the radio station manager’s office gives u an idea of what is going to happen. When Shikha enters Aakash’s friend’s house, she is shown in a red lighting, and he is shown in green lighting. It makes you smile knowingly. When Ranjeet confesses his mistake to Shikha, both are sitting across the table from each other, wearing white..peace meeting?????? Amol’s words after Shivani’s death have different meaning to Shikha and  Shruti, and both of them learn something from those words. Even when Neha is fed a piece of Shikha’s n Ranjeet’s wedding anniversary’s cake by Shruti, you find yourself smirking at the irony.

All in all its an interesting movie to watch. Do watch it :-)

OOTP

July 13, 2007

Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix:

OOPT

I went to see the movie more as a ritual than a necessity. I had not missed any of the previous movies, so why miss this one?? And i was also a little curious. Of the books i had found the fifth one the most boring. Hardly anything exciting happens till the end, and even then the action at the end did not satisfy all the suspense and curiosity that had been built up after Voldemort returns in the fourth book..so i was skeptical when i went to see the movie…but boy was i surprised..

Putting it straight, i liked this movie more than any of the others. It’s more mature (not solely because of the French kiss :-D ) it’s got all the actors looking a lot more at ease with their acting, and many many details that delight you, and you think to yourself “hey thats exactly how i imagined it to be” :-) Imelda Staunton does amazing work as Umbridge complete with the fake cough. Mrs. Weasley has finally got red hair {phewww..}, and the climax is amazing.

On the down-side, the extra dialogues that are not to be found in the book get boring after some time. And many characters do not show up at all. But all in all this one’s good :-)

For all the fans..this one will delight you and for all the non-believers..maybe this one will convert u :-D

I wish

July 11, 2007

I wish life didn’t seem so weird,

Wish I wasn’t jealous of the flying bird,

Feel like flying to another planet

Somewhere the happiness will never set

Where familiar faces will make me smile,

Where eternity will seem like just a while,

Where tear drops will never fall,

Where all calamities will seem small,

And I’ll spend all my time laughing

At every small simple beautiful thing.

I wish love wouldn’t be so complicated,

Those three words wouldn’t be so degraded,

And every smile and wink had a meaning,

And an end was only a new beginning.

Where only happiness would be the reason for tears

And contentment would replace all fears.

There would be no room for unfulfilled expectations

No loss, no fear, no tears, no complications.

Where reality would be better and would last

Longer than dreams and memories of the past.

Living in GOAH!!!!

July 11, 2007

The quiet The sea

GOA!!! It’s simply wonderful. You would never find a place that is easier to fall in love with.
This place is so romantic. So peaceful, so laid back, the mood of the society is so kind and friendly :-)
My life is so much more beautiful than say that of my friends in the metros. A funny and very irrelevant thing occurred to me the other day, but it made me laugh all the same. If we ask my friends living in the metros how many people in their classroom have spectacles the answer would be at least 75 percent while in our classroom of 60 i can think of about only 8-10 people with specs….(go figure!!)

Yesterday went for a small drive in the car on the road next to the beach. Just for fun!!!On the spur of the moment!!! :-D
How many families can do that?!
And there we saw a group of people with two cars parked near the beach with music playing in one of the systems and some 3-4 couples were having a sort of private party where they were taking turns to dance to the music. That is so cute. Finding so much happiness in something so little.

I don’t have to write about the more obvious beauty of Goa like the warm beaches and amazing temples and churches. Tourists can see them too. But there are subtle things that you can notice only after actually staying here.

I sometimes feel I am much closer to “reality” and “realisation” than any of my counterparts in other places, because I am closer to nature, because I stop to sense the things happening around me, I “experience” nature much more . I value the peace i get when i get to go to the beach or do any such relaxing thing. And i have to thank this beautiful land for giving me all this :-)

The calm The beach

It is, of course, very ironic of me to say i’m better at “reality” etc when mumbai, pune, delhi are places that are as real as they can get. But u will know what i’m talking about only after spending more than half your (small but relevant) life in this place. Just going to college during the rains…it’s an everyday thing for me…the wonderful scenery that goes by still amazes me everyday. Sitting on the beach every day , looking at the waves come and go, experiencing the calm and still near the Monte church, watching sunsets from dona paula and eating “bhutta”, walking on the university road when it’s green..(all the mentioned places are not more than 5 kilometers from my home). And there is so much to explore. So many places that are away from lurking tourists, away from all the noise..SO many weekends spent finding such new places and just sitting in awe..surrounded by beauty..such things cannot be described in words…

All the other places i’ve been to in India are cool in their own credit: the malls, the fast life, the “hanging out”, the career opportunities, and ultimately maybe I might have to spend my life somewhere other than Goa, but there is nothing like the cool breezes, the warm sands and the peaceful nights right here in Goa!!!

so thank you goa!! :-)

ONE

July 10, 2007

ONE

Just one happy moment, surrounded by the ones i love;

Just one friendly smile, from an unknown yet familiar face;

Just one flower in my garden, to light up my every day;

Just one dear friend who, knows me more than myself ;

Just one pat on my back, for something i’ve achieved;

Just one caring touch, that too with trembling fingers;

Just one selfless smile, for someone else’s happiness;

Just one inquiring look, to make sure everything’s ok;

Just one playful wink, along with a suppressed smile;

Just one unimportant secret, to be shared and never revealed;

Just one long letter, to be preserved till it’s yellow;

Just one twinkle in the eye, to start everyday with;

Just one tear drop in the night, to make amends for everything gone wrong;
What more can i ask for?

Wah Taj!!!

July 10, 2007

I don’t know whether it is true but they say Mark Twain once classified all the people in the world into ones who had seen the Taj Mahal and ones who had not. I am sadly from the latter group. But nevertheless i was overjoyed when it was selected as one of the new wonders of the world through world wide polling. Everyone knows of the history and the legends of the romantic tribute to love.

I find that the old Hindi movies romanticized it even more by including many a romantic duets with the actors cavorting around with the Taj in the background. However for me this joy and pride realated to the Taj is more distant than it would perhaps be to my parents. When I think of romantic locations I no longer think of the Taj. When i think of the Taj I think more of the news that keeps coming of the deterioration of the wonderful mausoleum. News reports of how the marble is getting eroded by the pollution, or how the Jamuna is getting clogged and is drying up. It is estimated that the area around the Taj contains five times the amount of suspended particles (such as sulfur dioxide) that the Taj Mahal could handle without sustaining everlasting damage.

And still we hold our heads high, we type out TAJ on our mobile phones and send sms’s to salute our national pride and when it is selected we rejoice and share the feeling of having done something for our country. :-D I would surely like to visit the Taj Mahal one day and stare in awe at the huge structure that has made all of us so proud. I would love to stand there and wonder how it would have been in the mogul era. Go back to the world when love meant so much and memories could be made everlasting in such a grand way.

And lets not forget the others who made the cut! The Great Wall of China, Rome’s Colosseum, and three architectural marvels from Latin America, Jordan’s Petra, Peru’s Machu Picchu, Brazil’s Statue of Christ Redeemer and Mexico’s Chichen Itza pyramid are the others.
